Hear from our postgraduate students
We asked our students about their experiences: what going back to study was like, what surprised them and how they feel now.
Apply nowI would've done it many, many years ago if I knew how supportive the university would be. I just had a thirst to learn more. It was time.
Okay. I'm really excited for this.
Coming back to study after, I think it was almost 20 plus years, what does this look like? What are the lecturers expecting from me?
I guess I was a little bit nervous at the beginning of, of whether I'd be able to get my head around university again and whether things had changed.
There are so many different support services through UOW. It's. Been a smooth transition, so I'm glad about that.
I'm so glad that I ignored the voice that told me I couldn't. The only thing holding me back was self-doubt.
After a few years of working professionally, I did realise that I need to upgrade myself.
Originally, I think it was about looking for that next step in my career progression.
I realised this is something not only for career, but also for personal development as well. The biggest thing it would give me is the knowledge, but it's also the qualification to get in the door to the jobs that I was hoping to get.
It's really inspiring to know that what I'm learning can translate into what I'm doing. Oh, thank you. You gotta play some ping pong.
True or false? Online classes are boring. That's totally false. You've got a front row seat to the lecturer. There's. Always something exciting happening every week.
True or false, you can balance postgraduate study. With a full-time. Job. You can, yeah. . I did. So you can.
That's why I signed up. It gave me enough flexibility that I though, oh, now I could do it. Online studying has been rewarding in that way that it's flexible.
Coming back to uni has been so invigorating. Learning about a whole new world has just been fascinating. You're learning sort of like practical skills at the same time as building your knowledge.
Work integrated learning is an opportunity to know that this is the career for me.
Thinking about where study could take me just made me feel like I've got another whole career in my life, and that's really exciting.
I now realise that I was a lot more capable than I was giving myself credit for, and it's such a great feeling when it's done.
