Overview

The University Entrance Program (UEP) is a pre-university program designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and academic readiness to succeed at the University of °µÍø½ûÇø (UOW). 

The University Entrance Program provides a guaranteed* pathway into the first year of a range of UOW degrees for students who do not meet direct entry requirements.  

UEP is ideal for students who want to strengthen their academic skills before starting a bachelor’s degree, as well as those who may not yet meet direct entry requirements and are seeking a pathway into university study. 

Through the program, you will develop essential academic and tertiary skills, including communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills, helping you transition confidently into your UOW degree. 

UEP is delivered face-to-face at the UOW °µÍø½ûÇø campus, and at the Liverpool campus (Stream 1). Students in regional areas can study online (Stream 1), with progression opportunities to UOW campuses including Bega Valley, Eurobodalla and Shoalhaven.*

  • Recent Secondary Education

    Stream 1: Minimum ATAR 30; or completed a Certificate III level qualification; or complete a basic Literacy Test to be assessed for entry.

    Stream 2: Minimum ATAR 35; or complete a basic Literacy Test to be assessed for entry.

    Assumed knowledge and recommended studies

    UOW College assumes students will have studied Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced (any result) OR Year 12 HSC Mathematics Standard 2 ≥60%.

    Applicants who do not meet the 'Assumed Knowledge and Recommended Studies' requirement for this course are advised to complete an additional subject - please refer to the Course Outline for further details.

    Stream 3: Minimum ATAR 35; or complete a basic Literacy Test to be assessed for entry; and

    Minimum 80% in HSC Year 12 Mathematics Standard 2; or completion of the UOW College Academic Bridging Course in Mathematics with a result of 'Satisfactory'.

  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) study

    You may be considered for admission to this course if you have completed a vocational education and training (VET) qualification, such as a Certificate IV. You will need to provide evidence of your qualification, which will then be converted to a selection rank and assessed to determine if you meet the minimum entry requirements.

  • Work and life experience

    If you have not completed a recognised qualification or your ATAR (or equivalent) does not meet the entry requirements for your selected course, UOW College may consider your relevant work and life experience. Applications for entry into a course on these grounds are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

    UOW College encourages course applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and may offer additional support through the .

    While studying at UOW College, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will also have access to support and resources through the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre.

  • Workload

    As a guide, the workload for your course is determined by the number of subjects you take each session. Four subjects in a standard session is considered to be a full-time load and generally equivalent to working full-time e.g. 35-45 hours a week (including preparation, revision and assessment tasks undertaken in your own time, in addition to the scheduled classes you must attend).

  • Credit for Prior Learning

    If you have undertaken previous studies at UOW College or another Higher Education provider, you may be eligible to receive credit (towards your course) for your prior learning. Credit for prior learning requires an assessment of your past learning for equivalency with subjects delivered in your chosen course.
