Undergraduate:

  • : A major in Global Sustainable Development investigates the practical and ethical issues surrounding development, human and environmental security, and the challenges of poverty and inequality.
  • International History: A major in International History International history helps students understand global issues from a historical perspective including what explains the rise and fall of powerful states and empires and what lessons can we learn from past conflicts and challenges that might prepare us better for the future
  • : A major in International Relations focuses on understanding your place in the national and global political systems and aims to study and solve some of the world's major problems such as war, inequality, and climate change.

Postgraduate:

  • Climate and Environment: A specialisation in Climate and Environment will introduce students to seminal research on the links between climate, environment and health and commonly used methods, to provide a good foundation for further studies, independent research or employment options in environment and health.
  • Maritime Security and Policy: A specialisation in Maritime Policy and Security will give Master's students the option to focus on policy, law, and security issues related to the world’s oceans, which act as natural habitats and as a source of both international political tensions and cooperation.
  • Public Health: A specialisation in Public Health will provide students with a foundation in public health and an analytic social lens to address issues of global public health significance.

We encourage you to have an international outlook with overseas study opportunities that include semester exchange and short course programs. If you add a language to your program of study, you'll also have the chance to participate in in-country language programs when travel is permitted. 

If you choose a Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation and receive a UOW Ramsey Scholarship, you will receive a return international airfare for an approved overseas study experience.
